His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of King Salman Center for Disability Research, launched the Global Scientific Partnership Program with the world’s top 100 universities during his visit to King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). The event was attended by KAUST President, Professor Edward Byrne, along with several of the university’s leading scientists.
The program aims to advance research in the fields of smart health and disabilities, contributing to improving human life and supporting sustainable scientific solutions. This initiative comes within the framework of a strategic partnership between KAUST and King Salman Center for Disability Research to strengthen scientific research in science, technology, and future medicine.
Prince Sultan emphasized that Saudi Vision 2030 is moving confidently toward global leadership in science and technology, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman — may God preserve them. He pointed out that health innovation is a key pillar of this ambitious vision, particularly through nanotechnology, stem cells, and artificial intelligence in medicine, to achieve a more efficient and inclusive healthcare system.
The King Salman Center for Disability Research collaborates with more than 150 national and international entities, including KAUST, King Faisal Specialist Hospital, and the Ministries of Health, Education, and Labor, to establish scientific alliances that transform research into practical solutions that improve quality of life, especially for persons with disabilities.
In the coming period, the Center is set to lead major scientific events, most notably the Disability Experts Forum in Riyadh in August 2025, and the 7th International Conference on Disability and Rehabilitation in December 2026, which serves as a global platform reinforcing the Kingdom’s standing in inclusive development and specialized scientific research.
Prince Sultan concluded his remarks with an inspiring statement: “For more than eight years, I have been calling for this… and the day will come when a person faces their disability only for it to disappear completely.” He expressed his deep belief that disability is not an end, but rather a challenge awaiting scientific solutions.
