The Committee of the King Salman International Award for Disability Research held its first meeting of the fourth term at the headquarters of the King Salman Center for Disability Research in Riyadh. The meeting was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Special Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Center, and was chaired by His Excellency Eng. Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi, Chairman of the Award.
His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman opened the meeting with a welcoming address, expressing his appreciation to the members of the fourth term. He emphasized the importance of this phase in strengthening the Award’s mission and its pioneering global role in supporting scientific research in the field of disability. He highlighted that the Award is one of the Kingdom’s leading initiatives to advance specialized research on disability issues and praised the wise leadership—may God protect them—for their continuous support in enhancing research efforts that directly improve the lives of persons with disabilities.
His Excellency Eng. Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi expressed his gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman—may God protect them—for their unwavering support for persons with disabilities. He affirmed that this reflects the leadership’s commitment to empowering individuals with disabilities, fostering scientific research, and promoting their integration into society. He also reviewed the history of the Award, preparations for the fourth term, and the key topics on the agenda, including the approval of updated organizational regulations and the adoption of nomination criteria to ensure transparency and excellence in evaluation and selection.
During the meeting, the Committee approved the preliminary budget for the fourth term, demonstrating strong preparation for the new cycle. The discussions also addressed emerging topics, including strategies to further develop the Award’s institutional operations and expand its international presence through strategic partnerships with global research and development institutions.
The King Salman International Award for Disability Research is recognized as one of the world’s leading awards supporting scientific research in the field of disability. Since its inception, the Award has promoted innovation and recognized outstanding researchers, reflecting the Kingdom’s vision to advance disability-related causes locally and internationally.
